The International Assembly of Migrants and Refugees is an international conference that will be held parallel to the GFMD. It is an event co-organized by the International Migrants Alliance (IMA) and the Asia Pacific Mission for Migrants (APMM).
The theme of the conference will be “Migrants' Challenge to the GFMD: End poverty, ensure jobs at home, stop forced migration! Uphold and Protect the rights of Migrants and Refugees!” and shall be held in Manila, Philippines on October 28 to 30.
It is targeted to be attended mainly by grassroots migrants from major global regions in the world – Asia and the Pacific, North America, Europe, Latin America and Africa.
The program of the IAMR will consist of workshops that shall center on themes highly-relevant to migrants, immigrants, refugees and other displaced peoples. There shall be presentations on various themes and these will be done by reputable leaders from different grassroots migrants’ groups and advocates for the rights of migrants from different parts of the world.
A public speak out shall also be conducted to give an opportunity for grassroots migrants to express their concerns.
